Unusually Bev is a man and started his life in bookbinding as an apprentice at George Garham Bookbinders in Pottergate Norwich in 1963. Having completed his apprenticeship and attained Journeyman status Bev moved
out into the trade working for various printers before settling at Jarrolds in Norwich where he worked for 26 years.
Here he became conversant with the needs and processes of mechanised binders being able to produce dummy and
pre-production copies of books to mimic what a machine would do (like turn ins in the wrong order).
With the demise of hard case binding Bev set up his own business to fulfil a life long ambition and return to what he
always called proper binding.
